The number of women victims of gender violence increased by 12.1% in 2023, to 36,582. The rate of victims of gender violence was 1.7 per 1,000 women aged 14 years old and over. The number of victims of domestic violence increased by 12.0%.

In March, 166,239 properties were registered in the property registers, 19.6% less than in the same month of the previous year. Registered housing sales and purchases increased by 19.3% compared to March 2023.

The annual rate of the Industrial Production Index was -1.2% in the series adjusted for seasonal and calendar effects and -11.3% in the original series. The monthly variation of the Industrial Production Index was -0.7%, if seasonal and calendar effects are eliminated.
Overnight stays in non-hotel tourist accommodation increased by 31.4% in March compared to the same month in 2023. Spain received 6.3 million international tourists in March, 21.0% more than in the same month of 2023. In the first three months of 2024, the number of tourists increased by 17.7%.
The total expenditure of international tourists who visited Spain in March increased by 29.7% and reached 8,652 million euros. The average daily expenditure increased by 5.4% to 180 euros.
El 9,2% de los adultos que vivían en hogares con una situación económica mala o muy mala cuando eran adolescentes, tenían en 2023 ingresos altos. El 53,1% de los adultos con situación económica buena o muy buena en la adolescencia tenía educación superior en 2023, frente al 23,3% de los que tenían una situación económica mala o muy mala. El 36,2% de los adultos cuyos padres tenían un nivel de estudios de educación secundaria de primera etapa o inferior, tenía estudios superiores en 2023.
El 83,5% de los hogares se mostró satisfecho en general en 2023 con la vivienda en la que residía. El 14,3% de los hogares con ingresos más bajos residía en viviendas cuya superficie no superaba los 60 m2, frente al 7,0% con ingresos más altos. Estos porcentajes fueron ligeramente inferiores a los recogidos en la encuesta de 2012. Al 36,2% de los hogares los gastos totales de la vivienda les supuso una carga pesada. Este porcentaje fue del 48,5% en los hogares con los ingresos más bajos. Estos porcentajes fueron menores que los de la encuesta de 2012. El 27,5% de los hogares afirmó que no pudo mantener una temperatura suficientemente cálida durante los meses fríos. Por su parte, el 33,6% manifestó que no tuvo una temperatura suficientemente fresca durante el verano.
A total of 357,894 people resident in centres (94.7 for every 100 residents) stated that they had a disability. The most frequent disabilities were related to basic activities of daily life. 88.6% of the people with disabilities had problems with personal care, 86.9% with domestic life and 86.2% had major mobility difficulties.
GDP registered a variation of 0.7% in the first quarter compared to the previous quarter in terms of volume. This rate was similar to that of the fourth quarter.

The number of people in employment decreased by 139,700 compared with the previous quarter to 21,250,000. In seasonally adjusted terms, the quarterly rate was 0.54%. Employment has increased by 615,800 in the last 12 months.
The provinces with the highest percentage of the population aged 15 and over with higher education in 2022 were Gipuzkoa (43.1%), Bizkaia (41.7%) and Madrid (41.1%). In Tres Cantos (Madrid), Las Rozas de Madrid (Madrid) and Sant Cugat del Vallés (Barcelona) more than 62% of the population aged 15 and over had higher education degrees. In Rojales (Alicante/ Alacant) and Níjar (Almería), less than 10%. Among the main countries of birth, those born in Venezuela (50.2%), France (43.8%) and Argentina (42.3%) presented the highest percentages of the population with higher education.
The annual variation of the Industrial Price Index increased three tenths in March, up to -8.2%. The monthly rate of industrial prices was -2.2%.

The number of mortgages constituted on dwellings recorded in the land registries in February was 37,232, 3.8% more in the annual rate. The average amount of mortgages on dwellings fell by 5.2%, standing at 136,145 euros. The average interest rate on new mortgages on dwellings was 3.33%.
Overnight stays in hotel establishments increase a 19.1% in March, compared to the same month of 2023. The Hotel Price Index rose 10.0% in annual rate. Hotels billed 109.2 euros on average per occupied room, 9.7% more than the same month of the previous year.
The annual variation of Service Sector Production Index was 4.9% in February in the calendar and seasonally adjusted series. The monthly rate was 1.1% if seasonal and calendar effects are removed.

In 2023, 31.3% of the employed persons worked in companies with fewer than 10 workers, 1.7 points less than in the previous year. 15.8% of those employed did so in companies with 50 to 249 workers, four tenths more than in 2022.
The EPA has included the figures from the 2021 Population and Housing Census in its estimates from 2021 to 2023. In the fourth quarter of 2023, the new census data increased the population residing in family households by 337,600 people. Consequently, the total number of employed individuals increased by 142,800 compared to the estimate based on the previous population base, and the number of unemployed individuals increased by an additional 30,300 people. The unemployment rate was 11.80% in the fourth quarter of 2023 with the new population base, four hundredths higher than in the previous estimate.
The Business Confidence Index increases by 1.5% in the second quarter of 2024 as compared with the first quarter. 23.1% of business establishments managers considere that the performance of their business during the second quarter of 2024 would be favourable, while 13.8% thought it would be unfavoruable.
