Description and objectives
The CNAE 93 is a classification of Economic Activities elaborated according to the conditions covered in the NACE Rev. 1 Implementation Regulation.
The objective of this classification is to establish a hierarchical set of economic activities which can be used to: 1) favour the implementation of national statistics that may be differentiated according to established activities. 2) classify statistical units and entities according to the economic activity carried out
Structure
Hierarchical structure with 6 group levels:
Level 1: 17 Sections identified by a one letter code
Level 2: 31 Subsections identified by a two letter code
Level 3: 60 Divisions identified by a 2 number code
Level 4: 222 Groups identified by a 3 number code
Level 5: 503 classes identified by a 4 number code
Level 6: 762 subclasses identified by a 5 number code
The five first levels coincide with those of the NACE-Rev.1, both codes and titles
The levels that are identified by numbers do not include the section and subsection letters to which they belong
