One of the greatest objectives of our society is to achieve equality between women and men in social and economic aspects. The Statistic is, without a doubt, a necessary reference point to clarify the current situation to this regard, and its evolution throughout time. Therefore, INE has created this specific section where some of the most relevant indicators are gathered.
INE has a wide tradition disseminating its survey and statistical data, broken down by the sex variable; however, presenting these results under a common epigraph will provide easier information access to users. This will allow to assess the degree of participation of women in different social scopes, to better learn about social and economic reality in our country and to adopt measures favouring equality between both sexes.
At the same time, this initiative responds to the international requirement for improving gender statistics as proposed by the Beijing Platform for Action.
INE is committed to promoting this approach in its statistical production. A good example of which is the joint participation with the Women's Institute in the publication of Women and Men in Spain, which can be consulted hereunder.
