Eurostat is the Statistical Office of the European Union. Established in 1953, and situated in Luxembourg, its mission is to offer the EU statistics on a European level that will allow for comparisons between countries and regions. To fulfil its mission, Eurostat collects the data that is provided by the different European statistics offices, analyses it and based on same offers comparable and harmonised figures, in such a manner that it is possible to define, undertake and analyse community policies.
