INEbase / Magistrates Courts Statistics / General methodology
Objetives
The objective of the research is to monitor the judicial activity of the Magistrates' Courts in civil and criminal areas, excluding that activity linked to the functions of the Civil Register.
Compilation
Until 31 December 2007, in accordance with the partnership agreement between the INE and the General Council of the Judiciary Branch and subsequent addenda, the information collection was carried out every six months, through a paper-based questionnaire that was completed by the Magistrates' Courts.
For the purpose of improving the quality and coverage of the statistics, beginning on 1 January 2008, an online electronic application was implemented that allows for the possibility of completing the statistics annually, via e-mail, online or using the paper questionnaire, according to the choice of the court itself.
