Objectives in the European Statistical Programme 2013-2017

The overall objective of the Programme consists of the European Statistical System being the main provider of high-quality statistics on Europe, and this will be achieved by way of the following specific objectives:

• Objective 1: provision of quality statistical information in order to support development, monitoring and assessment if European Union policies, duly reflecting priorities.
• Objective 2: application of new methods for compiling European statistics in order to increase efficiency and improve quality.
• Objective 3: reinforcement of the association at the heart of the ESS and outside it, in order to improve its productivity and the part it plays on a worldwide level in the scope of official statistics.

These specific objectives are divided into different areas of priority, as described below. Objective no. 1 is covered by "I. Statistical products", objective 2 by "II. EU statistics compilation methods", and objective no. 3 by "III. Association".

III. ASSOCIATION
