The INE presents a set of indicators and analysis in this publication that give a view of the Spanish social reality, as has been done in previous short-term social statistics operations (Social Indicators 1991, 1997, 1999 and 2001, Social Panorama 1994). The publication begins with an analysis of the economic and social environment in 2002. Four monographic analyses are presented below about some significant aspects of Spanish society such as the inequality of the sexes; disabled persons relation with employment; the current situation of foreigners in Spain, and an analysis of the labour market movements based on the results of the Active Population Survey (APS). The last part of the publication is structured into various chapters that contain a set of indicators selected according to the diverse fields of social preoccupation considered: population; family and social relations; education; employment; income, distribution and consumption; welfare; health; physical environment; culture and recreation; social cohesion and contribution.
