Conviction Statistics have been undertaken in partnership with the General Council of the Judiciary Branch by virtue of the Agreement signed by the National Statistics Institute and the aforementioned body on 14 February 1995.

As of 2007, this statistical operation has been compiled by the INE by using statistics from the Central Register of Convicted Persons, by virtue of the partnership agreement, signed in July 2007, with the Ministry of Justice, which is in charge of the aforementioned register.

Results are provided by using the sentencing notes corresponding to judgments recorded in the Register, on a national and Autonomous Community level.
