With the aim of reflecting as well as possible changes in population growth that have fundamentally been caused by the large-scale entry of the foreign population into Spain over the past few years, an action procedure has been established that will allow for obtaining estimates of the population resident in Spain, updated to the most recent short-term demographic data, which comprise the so-called Population Now-Cast (ePOBa).
The aforementioned estimates are considered to be the best best statistical approximation of the population currently residing in Spain, its Autonomous Communities and provinces, with the information available at any given moment. For this reason they are used in the INE as the reference population in the household and population surveys and in the computation of all types of indicators (demographics, economics, etc.).
Results are presented, broken down by Autonomous Communities and provinces, referring to the first day of each month of the current year, by sex, age and generation.
