The objective of the Unpaid Bills of Exchange Statistic (UBE) is to determine on a monthly basis the number and ammount of the financial institution bills of exchange, in portfolio and received as a management fee from clients, which have expired during the reference month and of these, those that remain unpaid. Data is obtained on the number and the ammount of the different bills, broken down by type of institution: banks, savings banks and credit unions and territorially on a national scale by Autonomous Communities and provinces.

Expired bills of exchange, both in portfolio and as a management fee from clients: received and other documents that expire in the reference month.

Unpaid bills of exchange, both in portfolio and as a management fee from clients: documents that having expired are known to be unpaid in the reference month. Not included in any case are bills for services (light, water, gas, electricity, schools, etc.).
