The Basic Demographic Indicators constitute a collection of indicators that summarise historical evolution of the behaviour of basic demographic phenomena in Spain (birth rate, fertility, mortality and marriage rate) and of the growth and structure of the population resident in the country. Said indicators are calculated taking the results of the Vital Statistics and of the figures for the reference population resident in Spain (Intercensal Estimates of Population, until the year 2011 and Population figures, since the year 2012).
National, Autonomous Community and provincial indicators are provided, calculated in accordance with basic demographic features such as sex, age and nationality (Spanish/foreign). In general, the results go back as far as 1975, although the breakdown by nationality is only available from the year 2002.
