Population and Housing Census 2011
A new stage in demographic statistics
With reference 1 November 2011, Population and Housing Censuses have been conducted. The study sheds light on the features of persons (sex, age, nationality, education, employment status, composition of the household, migrations, etc.), buildings (number of floors, state, year of construction etc.) and dwellings (tenancy regime, surface, rooms, etc.).
Among other data, the census reflects a 14.6% increase in the Population of Spain, and a 27.5% increase in the number of households in the last 10 years, which has witnessed an increase in the number of buildings (13.2%) and the number of dwellings (20.3%).

This bulletin marks the end of the series dedicated to the Year on Active Aging and Intergenerational Solidarity, as established for 2012 by the European Parliament and Commission.
The most relevant and recent data regarding the social and cultural involvement of the oldest population in Spain and the European area is included herein. Social involvement is an important factor in what is considered the quality of life, which tends to decrease as age increases.
