Industrial Price Index. 2021 Baseline

September 2025. Provisional data

Main results

  • The annual variation of the Industrial Price Index increased by 1.9 points in September to 0.3%.
  • The monthly rate of industrial prices was -0.4%.

More information

The annual rate of the general Industrial Price Index (IPRI) was 0.3% in September, 1.9 points above that in August.

By economic use of the goods, all industrial sectors had a positive effect on the annual rate of the general IPRI. Among these, worth noting were:

  • Energy, whose annual variation increased by 5.6 points to stand at 0.6%. This evolution resulted from prices in Electric power generation, transmission and distribution falling less than in September 2024, plus rising prices in the Manufacture of refined petroleum products, which decreased in the same month the previous year.
  • Non-durable consumer goods, whose annual rate increased by three tenths to -0.8%, due to increased prices in the Manufacture of vegetable and animal oils and fats, higher than the increase in the previous September.

The annual variation rate of the general index excluding Energy increased by two tenths, to -0.1%, standing nearly four tenths below that of the general IPRI.

In accordance with the Commission's Delegated Regulation (EU) 2023/137, the INE has begun to work on incorporating the new National Classification of Economic Activities CNAE-2025 in all its statistical operations.

In the case of the IPRI, the first publication of results with CNAE-2025 will take place in February 2028.
