The INE has published the Spanish Statistical Magazine every four months since 1958 with a dual purpose: as a communications medium so that persons who use official statistics may acquire in-depth knowledge regarding the methodology on which their compilation is based, and as an analysis and discussion forum for statistical methodology and its applications.

The Índice magazine arose from a collaboration agreement between the National Statistics Institute and the Autonomous University of Madrid. Its objective is to disseminate and analyse the most current and socially significant statistics, focusing especially on those offered by the Public Administrations. The magazine is published bimonthly.
