More than 6,700 million persons in the world
On 11 July 1987, the world reached a figure of 5,000 million inhabitants. In 1989, the United Nations declared it World Population Day. Currently, the world population stands at 6,700 million persons. The population of Spain exceeds 46.6 million inhabitants, with 12.0% being foreign population, and thus the fifth most populated country in the European Union. China has a population of 1,300 million persons, followed by India, with 1,100 million.
