Statistical information, an instrument that is necessary for better water management

Our existence, as well as economic activities, depends completely on water, and hydraulic resources are affected by agriculture, industry and household consumption. The report presented by UNICEF, for the purposes of World Water Day (22 March 2008), shows that at least 20% of the world population lacks access to potable water, and 42% does not have a tap to open for personal hygiene, and does not have adequate sewerage and wastewater purification services available.
