Methodological Changes to estimate the Shelter Occupancy Survey (EOAL) from 2021 onwards
The EOAL estimates up to 2020 (inclusive) were made using only the hostels of the Red Española de Albergues Juveniles (REAJ) as a directory. From 2021 onwards, hostels of the “Albergues Turísticos” and “Camino de Santiago” typologies were included in the directory, and therefore the results for 2021 are not comparable with those of previous years. In order to facilitate this comparison, there are link coefficients.

Improved methodology to estimate the Shelter Occupancy Survey (EOAL) for data from 2023 final onwards
An improvement in the estimation process for the empty strata is implemented upon the basis of the publication of the definitive EOAL results for January 2023. This means that the definitive 2023 data are not directly comparable with those of 2022. In order to facilitate their comparability, link coefficients are drawn up to enable the data of different years to be compared. The coefficients must be applied to the results for the corresponding month in 2022.
