Non-hotel Tourist Accommodation Occupancy Survey

Main results

  • Overnight stays in non-hotel tourist accommodation increased by 8.0% in June compared to the same month in 2024.
  • Overnight stays in flats grew by 6.9%, those in campsites by 11.2% and those in rural tourism by 9.6% compared to the same month in 2024. Those in hostels decreased by 5.2%.

Overnight stays in non-hotel tourist accommodation (flats, campsites, rural tourism accommodation and hostels) exceeded 15.1 million in June, with an increase of 8.0% compared to the same month last year.

Overnight stays by residents rose by 6.9% and those by non-residents by 9.0%. The average stay was 3.9 overnight stays per traveller.

Apartaments

Overnight stays in tourist flats increased by 6.9% in June. Resident registrations increased by 6.8% and non-resident registrations by 7.0%.

The average stay increased by 3.0% to 4.7 overnight stays per traveller.

In June, 41.2% of the places offered were occupied, 4.2% more than in the same month of 2024. The occupancy rate by bedplaces at the weekend was 46.6%, 6.2% higher

Non-resident travellers accounted for 66.7% of overnight stays. The United Kingdom was the main source market, with 34.5% of the total.

The Canary Islands was the preferred destination in flats, with more than 2.0 million overnight stays and an increase of 13.6% compared to June 2024. The Community of Madrid had the highest occupancy, with 79.7% of the flats on offer.

By tourist areas, the Costa Blanca was the preferred destination, with more than 887,000 overnight stays. Lanzarote had the highest occupancy rate, 83.3%. The tourist resorts with the highest number of overnight stays were Mogán, San Bartolomé de Tirajana and Arona.

Campsites

Overnight stays in campsites increased by 11.2% in June compared to the same month in 2024. Resident registrations rose by 8.4% and non-resident registrations by 16.2%.

During June, 44.9% of the plots on offer were occupied, 6.2% more in annual rate. El The weekend occupancy rate was 49.6%, an increase of 6.8%. Non-resident travellers accounted for 38.4% of overnight stays. The Netherlands was the largest outbound market, with 23.3% of the total.

Catalonia was the preferred destination in campsites, with more than 3.1 million overnight stays, and an increase of 18.5% in annual rate. La Rioja reached the highest occupancy rate, with 68.2% of the plots on offer.

By tourist area, the Costa Brava was the most popular destination, with more than 1.4 million overnight stays. The Costa Blanca had the highest occupancy rate, with 71.1%. The tourist spots with the most overnight stays were Torroella de Montgrí, Mont-Roig del Camp and Benidorm.

Rural tourism accommodation

Overnight stays in rural tourism accommodation increased by 9.6% in June compared to the same month in 2024. Resident registrations rose by 7.3% and non-resident registrations by 13.6%.

23.1% of the bedplaces were occupied, 10.7% more than in June 2024. The weekend occupancy rate stood at 40.6%, an annual increase of 15.2%.

The Balearic Islands was the preferred destination, with more than 225,000 overnight stays, 0.1% more than in June 2024. It also achieved the highest occupancy rate, at 63.0%.

By tourist areas, the island of Mallorca was the preferred destination, with more than 167,000 overnight stays. The island of Menorca reached the highest occupancy rate, with 72.0% of the places offered.

Hostels

Overnight stays in hostels recorded an annual decrease of 5.2% in June. Resident registrations fell by 4.4% and non-resident registrations by 6.1%.

37.2% of the bedplaces were occupied, 1.5% more than in June 2024. The weekend occupancy rate stood at 41.1%, an annual increase of 0.7%.

Galicia was the preferred destination, with more than 142,000 overnight stays.Cantabria reached the highest occupancy, with 68.1% of the places offered.

Price Indices

The Holiday Apartment Price Index (APPI) rose by 5.1% in June compared to the same month in 2024, the Campsite Price Index (CPI) by 6.3% and the Rural Tourism Price Index (RTPI) by 11.1%.
