1) Household expenditure quintile: this is 20% or one-fifth of the households in the population. In the first quintile, we find the 20% of the households in the population with the least household expenditure, and so on and so forth up to the fifth quintile, which includes the 20% of the households in the population with the greatest household expenditure.
