Overview of Disabilities in Spain

Disability, Independence and Dependency Situations Survey. 2008

Recent demographic changes imply transformations in the population, among which is a noteworthy ageing process. One possible effect is the increase in the number of persons with disabilities. Moreover, the increase in longevity has forced a restructuring of policies, in order to give more support to those persons who are in a dependency situation. Tending to this group requires ascertaining their characteristics and social reality.
