15th May. International day of the Family

15 May was proclaimed International Day of Families by the General Assembly of the United Nations, in 1993. This celebration reflects the importance that the international community grants families, and its concern for the situation of families throughout the world. This Day emphasises that the equality between men and women, and the respect for all members of the family, are essential for the well-being of society.
