Definition

Life tables measure the incidence of this demographic phenomenon in a cohort, composed, in general, by 100,000 individuals, from its birth until its extinction, through the following series or biometric functions by age: survivors series, theoretical deaths series, average number of years lived during the last year of life series, stationary population series, specific mortality rate series, probability or risk of dying series, time still to live series, life expectancy series at the exact age x.
