Periodic publications

The purpose of this publication is to provide, from a gender perspective, a selection of the most relevant indicators at the present moment that enable analysing the situation of men and women, in certain social and economic areas, such as education, employment, wages and social inclusion, science and technology, etc.

The publication has been divided into eight broad subjects, which contain files associated with different indicators. Each file is independent from the rest, and consists of: introduction, definitions, observations, sources and a section with more information providing some relevant links. (Permanent updating).

They have been promoted by a large number of initiatives from both the scientific and the academic world, as well as European and international organisations. Measuring the progress of society and well-being of individuals implies increasing the number of economic development indicators traditionally used for measuring growth and well-being. This release presents the multidimensional measurement of the quality of life, including a set of indicators grouped in 9 dimensions and disaggregated by individual characteristics and geographical scope.

Spain in Figures is a publication characterised by its informative nature and its straightforward style for explaining and presenting the social, economic and demographic phenomena occurring in this country. Its brief explanations, accompanied by tables, graphs or maps complementing and simplifying the information, provide a general overview of this country and its standing in Europe.

It includes general statistical information, garnering data from different internal and external INE sources, and aims to present a quantitative reflection of Spain's economic, social and demographic reality, with an ample amount of content. Furthermore, each edition also includes a small synthesis of international data. (Complete collection since 1858).

Consists of 17 goals and 169 targets. In order to monitor its progression, 231 indicators have been designed that can be measured using the statistical data contained herein. These indicators are updated continuously and this action includes information from both the INE and other official sources.

The idea of compiling this publication arose in the context of the Iberian Conferences, with the objective of presenting a set of demographic, economic and social indicadors and which establishes comparisons between Spain and Portugal, both countries set in the context of the EU.
