The total expenditure of international tourists visiting Spain in July reached 18,218 million euros, an increase of 10.9% compared with the same month in 2025.
The average expenditure per tourist stood at 1,579 euros, with an annual increase of 5.9%. On the other hand, the average daily expenditure increased by 3.7%, up to 218 euros.

During the first seven months of 2026, the total expenditure of international tourists increased by 7.8% and reached 82,054 million euros.
The main countries of origin in terms of the level of expenditure in July were the United Kingdom (with 16.7% of the total), Germany (9.6%) and France (9.0%).
Expenditure by tourists resident in the United Kingdom increased by 4.8% in the annual rate, the figure for German tourists rose by 11.5% and for French tourists by 12.6%.
During the first seven months of 2026, the UK was the country with the highest cumulative expenditure (16.9% of the total). It was followed by Germany (11.3%) and France (7.8%).
Expenditure on accommodation was the most important item in July, accounting for 19.8% of the total expenditure and an increase of 6.7% compared with the same month in 2025.
The following items were expenditure on package tours and international transport (not included in package tours), which accounted for 19.3% and 19.2% of the total, respectively. The former increased by 19.0% and the latter by 12.8%.
62.5% of total expenditure in July was made by tourists who stayed overnight in hotel accommodation, an annual increase of 7.8%. On the other hand, expenditure on non-market accommodation increased by 9.7%.
Expenditure by tourists not travelling with a package tour increased by 8.6% in annual terms. For those who contracted a package tour, it increased by 17.4%.
In terms of the reason for travel, tourists visiting Spain for leisure generated 89.2% of total expenditure, with an 8.9% higher outlay than in July 2025.
(*) Two main groups of accommodation are distinguished according to whether or not there has been a monetary transaction: market (paid accommodation: hotels, rental accommodation, camping, rural house and other market accommodation) or non-market (owned housing, family and friends housing and other non-market accommodation).
The Autonomous Communities of main destination with the greatest weight in tourist spending in July were the Illes Balears (with 22.8% of the total), Cataluña (20.4%) and Andalucía (14.8%). Tourist expenditure increased by 8.3% in annual rate in Illes Balears, 13.0% in Cataluña and 23.4% in Andalucía.
During the first seven months of 2026, the communities with the highest cumulative expenditure were Cataluña (with 18.9% of the total), Canarias (17.1%) and Andalucía (15.2%).
