Variation of employment in the second quarter compared with the first of the same year
By gender, employment increased this quarter by 236,300 men and 249,700 women. By nationality, it increased by 246,000 among Spaniards, including those who hold dual nationality, and by 240,000 among foreign nationals.
By sector, employment increased in Services (up 394,000), Construction (60,000), and Industry (38,200). At the same time, it decreased in Agriculture (6,200 fewer). These differences have been calculated in accordance with the CNAE-2009 classification (see section Data Revisions and Updates).
Full-time employment increased by 405,400 persons and part-time employment by 80,600. On the other hand, the number of employees increased by 529,200: those with permanent contracts increased by 386,900 and those with temporary contracts by 142,300. The number of self-employed workers decreased by 42,900 persons.
Private employment grew this quarter by 501,600 people, to 19,132,100, while public employment fell by 15,600, to 3,646,900.
In the past 12 months, employment increased by 510,200 people (2.29%), with increases of 283,700 among men and 226,600 among women. By sector, the greatest growth occurred in the Services, with 283,000 more employed; this difference has been calculated according to the CNAE-2009 classification (see section Data Revisions and Updates).
In the past 12 months, full-time employment increased by 487,600 persons and part-time employment by 22,600. On the other hand, permanent employment grew by 571,900 persons and temporary employment by 34,900.
