Statistics on Transfer of Property Rights (STPR)

Main results

In June, 206,138 properties were registered in the property registers, 7.0% more than in the same month of the previous year.
The number of registered property sales and purchases increased by 1.6% compared with June 2025.

Detailed results

The number of property transfers recorded in the property registers (from previously executed public deeds) in the month of July was 205,870, which was 1.8% fewer than in the same month of 2025.

As regards registered property sales, the number of transfers amounted to 117,538, an annual decrease of 3.8%.

Sales recorded in land registers

88.4% of registered sales in July were urban properties and 11.6% were rural properties. In the case of urban properties, 59.1% were home purchases and sales.

In July, the number of sales of rural properties fell by 1.7% in terms of the annual rate and that of urban properties went down by 4.0%. Within the latter, housing sales and purchases recorded an annual decrease of 5.1%.

Registered housing sales

In July, 93.8% of the housing transferred by sale and purchase were free and 6.2% were social housing.

In annual terms, the number of transfers of free dwellings decreased by 4.4% in July in the annual rate, while that of protected dwellings fell by 14.4%.

21.6% of the homes sold in July were new and 78.4% were used.

The number of new home transactions decreased by 1.4% compared with July 2025 and the number of used ones fell by 6.1%.

Results by Autonomous Community

Galicia (17.8%), Canarias (5.5%) and Principado de Asturias (3.3%) recorded the highest annual rates of change in the total number of properties transferred in July.

Conversely, Extremadura (-11.4%), Illes Balears (-9.7%) and La Rioja (-9.0%) were the autonomous communities that displayed the highest negative rates.

Looking at the sales and purchases of registered housing, the autonomous communities that presented the greatest increases were Comunidad Foral de Navarra (26.4%), Galicia (10.8%) and Castilla y León (9.7%).

In turn, Principado de Asturias (-15.2%), Illes Balears (-14.3%) and La Rioja (-12.4%) registered the largest decreases.

Revision and updating of data

The data for 2026 are provisional and will be reviewed when the data for the same period next year are published. Coinciding with today's publication, the INE has updated the data for the Transfer of Property Rights series for the months of July to December 2025, as well as the annual data for 2025. All the results of this operation are available at INEbase.

Methodological note

The Statistics on Transfer of Property Rights provide information on the number of rights on transfers of property during the reference month, on a national level, by province and Autonomous Community.

All information on transfers of property is taken from the information contained in the Land Registers for the whole country, by virtue of a partnership agreement signed in 2004 by both institutions.

Type of survey:: continuous on a monthly basis.
Population scope:: registrations of transfers of property rights in the land registers.
Geographical scope:: the entire national territory, by Autonomous Community and provinces.
Reference period of the results:: the calendar month.
Reference period of the information:: the calendar month.
Classification:: sale, donation, inheritance, exchange and other property titles, of rustic and urban properties (dwellings, plots and other urban properties).
Collection method:: administrative registers from Association of property and Mercantile registers of Spain.
