In April, Spain received 8.6 million international tourists, 10.1% more than in the same month in 2024.
In the first four months of 2025 the number of tourists that visited Spain increased by 7.1% and exceeded 25.6 million.
Annual variation. Percentage
The United Kingdom was the main country of residence, with more than 1.6 million tourists and an increase of 11.1% compared with April 2024. There were 1.3 million arrivals from Germany (13.7% more) and 1.3 million from France (10.5% more).

The main countries of origin during the first four months were the United Kingdom (with over 4.7 million tourists and an increase of 6.7%), France (almost 3.4 million and an increase of 8.3%) and Germany (with more than 3.3 million, 4.8% more).
The number of tourists who chose market accommodation as their main type of accommodation increased by 6.6% in annual terms. Within this type, hotel accommodation grew by 2.5% and rented dwellings by 25.2%. Non-market accommodation increased by 25.2%.
Tourists mostly stayed four to seven nights, amounting to nearly 4.5 million and an annual increase of 13.6%. The number of visitors increased by 16.8% among non-overnight visitors (excursionists) and by 25.8% among tourists with a longer duration (more than 15 nights).
More than 6.7 million tourists travelled without a tourist package in April, an increase of 9.9%. Over 1.8 million travellers arrived with package tours, an increase of 10.7%.
Cataluña was the top tourist destination in April, with 20.3% of the total. It was followed by Andalucía (16.2%) and Illes Balears (15.8%).
3.3% more tourists visited Cataluña than in April 2024. The number of tourists who visited Andalucía increased by 15.5% and those who visited Illes Balears rose by 13.4%.
In the cumulative figure for the first four months of 2025, the Autonomous Communities that received the most tourists were Canarias (5.7 million: an increase of 4.2% as compared with the same period in 2024), Cataluña (5.3 million: an increase of 5.3%) and Andalucía (3.9 million: 10.1% more).

The main objective of the Tourist Movement on Borders Survey (FRONTUR) is to estimate the number of non-residents visiting Spain on a monthly basis, as well as to know the main characteristics of the trips made by these visitors.
