In April, Spain received 9.1 million international tourists, 5.2% more than in the same month in 2025.
In the first four months of 2026, the number of tourists visiting Spain increased by 3.4% and approached 26.6 million.
Annual variation. Percentage
The United Kingdom was the main country of residence, with almost 1.7 million tourists and an increase of 2.7% compared to April 2025. There were 1.3 million arrivals from France (5.1% more) and 1.2 million from Germany (9.1% more).

The main sending countries during the first four months were the United Kingdom (with around 4.9 million tourists and an increase of 2.5%), France (with over 3.3 million and a drop of 1.8%) and Germany (with nearly 3.3 million, 2.8% fewer).
The number of tourists who chose market accommodation as their main type of accommodation increased by 4.2% in annual terms. Within this type, hotel accommodation grew by 3.2% and rented dwellings by 12.1%. Non-market accommodation went up by 9.1%.
A stay of four to seven nights was the main length among tourists, with more than 4.6 million tourists and an annual increase of 2.7%. The number of visitors decreased by 0.1% among those without overnight stays (excursionists) and grew by 2.4% among tourists with longer duration (more than 15 nights).
Almost 7.1 million tourists travelled without a package tour in April, up by 5.3%. Nearly 2.0 million tourists travelled with a tourist package, 5.0% more.
Cataluña was the top tourist destination in April, with 20.8% of the total. This was followed by Andalucía (16.5%) and Illes Balears (15.2%).
7.7% more tourists visited Cataluña than in April 2025. The number of tourists who visited Andalucía increased by 6.9% and those who visited Illes Balears rose by 1.4%.
In the cumulative figure for the first four months of 2026, the Autonomous Communities that received the most tourists were Canarias (5.7 million: an increase of 0.2% as compared with the same period in 2025), Cataluña (5.4 million: an increase of 0.8%) and Andalucía (4.2 million: 6.3% more).

The main objective of the Tourist Movement on Borders Survey (FRONTUR) is to estimate the number of non-residents visiting Spain on a monthly basis, as well as to know the main characteristics of the trips made by these visitors.
