Consumer Price Index (CPI)
Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP)

October 2025

Main results

  • The annual variation rate of the CPI was 3.1% in October, one tenth of a percentage point higher than in September.
  • The annual rate of core inflation rose one tenth of a percentage point to 2.5%.
  • The monthly variation of the general rate was 0.7%.
  • The annual rate of the Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) was 3.2%, two tenths of a percentage point higher than that of the previous month.

The annual rate of the overall Consumer Price Index (CPI) in October was 3.1%, one tenth higher than that registered the previous month.

The groups which most influenced this increase in the annual rate were:

  • Housing, whose annual rate increased by 0.4 percentage points to 7.5%, due to electricity prices increasing, higher than in October of 2024.

Among the groups with a negative contribution, the most noteworthy were:

  • Leisure and culture, whose annual rate declined five tenths of a percentage point to 0.1%. This behaviour was mainly due to the decrease in the package tour prices, higher than in October of last year.

The annual variation rate of core inflation (the overall index excluding unprocessed food and energy products) stood at 2.5%, a figure one tenth higher than in the previous month.

In October, the monthly variation rate of the general CPI was 0.7%.

The groups with the greatest positive monthly impact to the CPI monthly rate were:

On the other hand, among the groups with a negative monthly impact, the following stood out:

  • Leisure and culture, with a variation of -0.8%, resulting from the falling prices in Package Tours. The impact of this group to the overall CPI was -0.067.
