Public employment comprises all wage earners in Public Companies and in General and Regional Administration, including both workers contributing to the general regime of the Social Security and those affiliated to Mutual Provident Societies.
Private employment is the difference between the total number of employed persons and wage earners in the public sector. That is, it covers: private sector wage earners, employers, independent workers and and businesspersons without employees, members of cooperatives and other professional status.
