Energy consumption in Mining and Quarrying and Manufacturing Industries fell by 14.8% in 2024, to 13,249 million euros. The main energy products used in industry were electricity (55.1% of the total consumption of the sector) and gas (31.1%).

The Energy Consumption Survey is a statistical investigation whose objective is to obtain information on the different types of fuels used by industrial companies.
The survey covers the extractive and manufacturing industries. The target population of the study is the group of companies with 20 or more wage earners, and whose main activity is included in Sections B and C of the National Classification of Economic Activities (CNAE-2009).
Until the 2021 reference year, the survey was carried out biennially (only for odd reference years). From 2022 the operation becomes annual.
